sweat and tyres rolling into los angeles
After 545 miles of pedalling, I rolled into the grounds of Fairfax High School, Los Angeles, on Saturday. Turns out those “nasty, brutish and short” training rides up Mendocino county’s torturous hills were excellent preparation for the seven-day ride down from San Francisco.
I’m feeling extremely grateful for having been able to experience California on two wheels for a week — a week imbued with gorgeous views, good vibes and mind-blowing cinnamon rolls (Pismo Beach — who knew?!). I’m extremely grateful to my donors — you’ve contributed towards this year’s collective AIDS/LifeCycle fundraising record of $17.83 million for HIV treatment and prevention, bringing us closer to the eventual goal of endings AIDS. I’m also very thankful that I didn’t get a single flat tyre and that, aside from some chafe and a saddle sore I got on a very rainy Day 1, I’m physically not too worse for wear.
I’ve collated a few snaps from the ride in a Medium blogpost here.
This is the last edition of sweat and tyres. Thank you for reading — and for your support! 💖
